i live to let you shine -

so, right now, I'm really into a few things.
first, I've suddenly gotten interested in the sixties and seventies. I've always thought the sixties to be iconic in fashion history, but the seventies weren't so spectacular. now, though, I've taken inspiration from these decades and their crazy, but still cute, outfits. I'm just in love with these decades right now!

In the sixties, young people finally began to have an influence on fashion. Parisian designers, haute couture, soft classics, like the floppy hat in the third image, roots of go-go, twist on the fifties, worldly styles and mass production, all rebelled against rules and gender associations.
70s:

I love the go-go boots, with their classy yet funky kind of look.

not only that, but I'm also very into the song boats and birds right now, by gregory and the hawk.
I don't know why, but I feel like this song really speaks to me. okay, obviously it wasn't written for me, though that would be amazing. but it's got such beautiful lyrics and an amazing melody and I just love it.

finally, I'm really into hippie headbands right now. though they look awful on me (my head shape just doesn't work with it, too bad) they look gorgeous on models! I think they're just so carefree and happy-go-lucky, but still classic and romantic.

night fell, light fell, morning broke -

I've taken up a few obsessions lately:

this amazing (and cheap) hand sanitizer! it smells like fruity, fresh and crisp perfume, but still protects against germs! (yeah, that does sound like I'm germaphobic. I promise, I'm not.)

and...

these fabulous beeswax candles, which are classically dramatic, but still seem fresh.

the humans should be allowed to know as well -

So, summer's here. And by summer, I mean that rainy time between February and July when it's not really Spring or Summer, it's just rainy and miserable. But then you get days like today - sunny and fabulous! I went to the beach yesterday, and then today my friends and I took a trip to Green Lake. It was amazing to wear flip flops and shorts; we went paddleboating and swimming and walked around the lake and ate ice cream and did all those summery things. I would have felt better wearing this, though. I'm in love with floppy hats right now - they're so sophisticated. I feel like I should go watch a horse race when I wear them. And that "BADgal waterproof mascara" is fabulous! Speaking of which, I'm going through a Benefit phase right now. All their stuff is just so gorgeous and wonderful! I'm in love with their Dandelion face powder, as well as Lemon primer, Georgia Peach face powder - which actually smells like peaches! - and this tanning lotion, which I love because of the amazing label.
And that's all I have to say about that.

my milk truck's gonna be her chariot ride -

Faces of the Moment:

For our first muse models of the month, I've picked...

Jacqueline Bisset, Natalia Vodianova and Liya Kebede.

Face of the Past
Jacqueline Bisset

Jacqueline Bisset was born July 6th, 1944 in Weybridge, Surrey, in England. She is currently 64, and began her acting and modeling career in 1967, when she was cast in Two For the Road, with Audrey Hepburn. She starred in many movies after this, including the original Casino Royale, The Detective - with Frank Sinatra, Bullitt (as Steve McQueen's girlfriend), Airport - which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. In 1975, she had the lead role in La Donna Della Domenica - an Italian comedy film, and in 1977, she starred in The Deep. Newsweek declared her "the most beautiful film actress of all time." Jacqueline won her first Golden Globe for Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? and was a household name by 1978. She has a brother named Max and speaks fluent French, in case anyone was wondering.

Faces of the Present
Natalia Vodianova

Natalia was born in Gorky, USSR, though it is now known as Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, on the 28th of February, in 1982. As a child, she sold fruits to help her family, which was in poverty. Her modeling career started at age 15, when she enrolled in a modeling academy. There, she learned English and at age 17, in 1999, she moved to Paris, where she worked with Viva Model Management Paris. She has three children, Lucas, Neva and Viktor. Natalia is president of the Naked Heart Foundation, a charity which works towards an enriching and safe environment for every child in urban Russia.

Faces of the Future
Liya Kebede

Ethiopian Supermodel Liya Kebede is a fresh new face in an industry of replicas. Her superb bone structure and fabulous hair create a new, bright and alluring look. Liya was born on January 3, in 1978, and has been featured on Vogue covers twice. She is the eleventh-highest paid model in the world, as well. She is married to Kassy Kebede - an Ethiopian hedge fund manager, and has two children - her son, Suhul and her daughter Raee. She acts, models and has designed a children's clothing line produced in Ethiopia, which she hopes will help change her country. In 2005, she won the UN Day Award, too.
